IN THE HEART OF THE VINEYARD VALLEY
The location of the Lagar de los Almendros allows for beautiful views over the valley and the contiguous mountains made up of pasture farms. The rural house has excellent conditions for bird watching and is classified by SEO BirdLife as one of the most biodiverse areas in Europe. It also has magnificent views of the sky due to the low light pollution (more info) and is a privileged area for collecting mushrooms.
Near the farm there are numerous natural spaces to visit such as the Monfragüe National Park (40 km), a biosphere reserve and a sanctuary for a multitude of birds. In addition to black storks, about 300 pairs of black vultures nest, one of the most important colonies in Europe. There is also a high probability of seeing the Iberian imperial eagle fly. Other natural spaces and parks close to the house worth visiting are Llanos de Trujillo, Cornalvo Natural Park and Ruta de los Pantanos, Sierra de Gredos, Sierra de Gata, Sierra de Guadalupe, Riberas del Tajo and del Guadiana.
CULTURAL HERITAGE AND SITES
The main and closest cultural attraction is the city of Trujillo, a beautiful medieval and Renaissance town with an imposing castle, palaces, churches and convents, located only 14 km from Los Almendros. In Trujillo two festivals of touristic interest are celebrated: el Chíviri and the holy week of Trujillo. The town also holds other events such as the National Cheese Fair and the Agricultural Fair (más info sobre Trujillo).
In addition, close to the property there are other beautiful cities and villages, such as:
Cáceres (60km): Where a walk through its old town is essential. The entire monumental area of Cáceres is a spectacle.
Guadalupe (65km): El Real Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (The Royal Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe) is a World Heritage Site, with works by Luca Giordano, Zurbarán, Goya and El Greco among others.
Plasencia (85km): The Region of Jerte's jewel, with its two cathedrals with their styles from the 13th century Romanesque to the 15th century building.
Mérida (95km). Is the only Spanish city that has the title of "Ensemble of Historic-Archaeological Sites".
El Lagar de los Almendros is surrounded by numerous roads and paths where various sports activities can be practiced. These include hiking, cycling, horseback riding, fishing and other adventure sports.
